As the Tet holiday approaches, Đà Lạt's famous lily fields are in full bloom, drawing flower traders from across Vietnam. According to local reports, the flower market in Hiep Thanh commune, Lâm Đồng province, has begun receiving shipments ahead of the Tet holiday. However, the market is facing a significant challenge due to natural disasters that have damaged over 100 hectares of lily fields, reducing the supply by about 35%.
Local farmers are seeing a surge in prices due to the reduced supply. According to Mr. Nguyễn Văn Tiến, a farmer from Hiep Thanh commune, the price of first-grade lilies has increased by over 10,000 VND per bunch compared to last year. Currently, the price ranges from 30,000 to 35,000 VND per bunch, with some vendors reporting prices as high as 40,000 VND per bunch.
The reduced supply has made the market even more attractive to buyers, with many local farmers transporting their lilies to other provinces to meet the high demand. This surge in demand has not only benefited the farmers but has also highlighted the importance of Đà Lạt's lily industry to the local economy.
