Residents of Xuân Hương District in Đà Lạt are growing increasingly frustrated over the slow enforcement of a recent illegal construction case. On October 3, local authorities had planned to carry out a forced removal of an unauthorized building that had taken over a shared pathway between houses 67 and 69 on Phan Đình Phùng Street. However, the operation was abruptly postponed, leaving many residents puzzled and concerned.
According to Nguyễn Ngọc Hậu, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Committee of Xuân Hương District, the structure in question includes a 3.2-meter-high, 1.6-meter-wide steel-framed enclosure, along with a makeshift bathroom built on a brick foundation. The total area of the illegal construction is reported to be 11.6 square meters. These structures have been occupying a shared space that was originally meant for community use, causing disruptions to local traffic and daily life.
The delay in enforcement has raised questions about the effectiveness of local administrative procedures. Hậu explained that the district is currently reviewing regulations related to forced removals, as some policies have been updated since the initial planning of the operation.
