Historic Highway Approved: Nha Trang-Đà Lạt Express Set for 2030
Major Transport Revolution Coming to Our Mountains
A groundbreaking decision that will transform how visitors reach our beloved highland city was approved on March 30th, when Lâm Đồng Provincial People's Council passed a resolution authorizing the Nha Trang-Đà Lạt expressway project.
According to Tuổi Trẻ, this ambitious 80.8-kilometer highway will cut travel time between the coastal resort of Nha Trang and our flower city to just 1.5-2 hours, nearly halving the current 3.5-4 hour journey through the winding Khánh Lê Pass on National Road 27C.
How the Project Will Work
The expressway represents a massive undertaking with a preliminary budget exceeding 25,000 billion VND. Under the approved resolution, Khánh Hòa Province will lead the project implementation using a public-private partnership (PPP) and BOT contract model.
Meanwhile, Lâm Đồng will handle the local components on our territory, including land clearance compensation, resettlement support, and temporary construction work. Our province has committed approximately 768 billion VND from the local budget for the 2026-2030 medium-term public investment plan.
What This Means for Đà Lạt
For those of us who call Đà Lạt home, this expressway promises to be transformative. The four-lane highway with a maximum speed limit of 100km/h will directly connect our mountain plateau to the North-South Expressway Eastern route, creating unprecedented accessibility to our tourism heartland.
"This highway will link two major administrative centers while directly connecting the tourism regions of both Khánh Hòa and Lâm Đồng provinces," as reported by Tuổi Trẻ.
Looking Ahead
With completion targeted before 2030, this expressway represents the most significant infrastructure development for Đà Lạt in decades. For local businesses, tourism operators, and residents who frequently travel to the coast, the reduced travel time will open new possibilities for commerce and connection.
The project has already received backing from the Lâm Đồng Provincial Party Committee, signaling strong political commitment to seeing this mountain-to-sea link become reality.
