Funny how a single message can bring everybody back, poker Sunday at my place, and suddenly
the groups awake, some reply within a minute, some appear without a word, some say maybe,
some say later, but somehow, everybody shows up, the chairs don't always match, neither
do the stories, some have traveled half the world, some never left these hills, yet somehow,
around one poker table, we all speak the same language, no invitations made of gold, no fancy
dress code, just bring yourself, bring a smile, and maybe, a lucky deck of cards, here's to old
friends, here's to new ones, here's to conversations that last much longer than the game, here's to
memories, we haven't made yet, tonight feels like, the beginning again, oh, together, together,
Stan already starts laughing, before the first card's dealt, Boston says I promise I'm not bluffing,
nobody believes in, Leo quietly stacks his chips, like he's preparing for battle, someone burns the
garlic bread, nobody seems to care, one player keeps explaining, the odds behind every move,
another says I have absolutely no idea, what I'm doing, and somehow, wins three hands in a row,
everybody protests, everybody laughs, different countries, different accents, different careers,
different dreams, yeah, here we are, sharing snacks, trading stories, teaching poker, learning life,
one hand at a time,
one more story, one more laugh, one more coffee, one more hand,
one more hand, one more hand, everybody's smiling now, some friendships happen slowly, others begin
over a terrible poker hand, a shared pizza, a bad joke, a lucky river, a midnight conversation,
years from now, nobody will remember, who won tonight, but everyone will remember,
who was around the table, here's to old friends, here's to new stories, here's to every person,
who made tonight worth coming, raise your glass, raise your cards, raise a toast,
to unexpected moments, sometimes the greatest prize is simply finding, your people,
somewhere, another game will end, another week will begin, life gets busy again,
messages become shorter, calendars become fuller, but every Sunday,
there's always another chance, to sit around the table, shuffle the cards, welcome a stranger,
leave with another friend, old friends, new stories, see you Sunday, see you Sunday,
