A New Lifeline for Da Lat's Roads
The newly completed Xuan Huong Bridge over Mimosa Pass in Da Lat is now ready for its first test run ahead of the upcoming April 30th holiday. This critical infrastructure project, which took over 100 days to complete, is set to ease the long-standing traffic challenges caused by a severe landslide that struck the area in late November 2025. The bridge, designed to span the deep ravine on the slope of Mimosa Pass, is now a vital lifeline for the region, particularly for the heavy freight traffic that moves in and out of Da Lat through this route.
According to local reports, the landslide caused a 70-meter-wide and 30-meter-deep break in the road on National Highway 20, severely disrupting transportation and creating bottlenecks during peak hours. This was especially problematic for trucks transporting goods to and from the city, a key artery for the region's economy. Now, with the new bridge in place, the flow of goods and people is expected to return to normal.
Anh Pham Van Thai, the project manager, shared that the team faced significant challenges due to the steep and rugged terrain. At its peak, over 70 workers and engineers worked around the clock to complete the project on time. The bridge, which is 133 meters long, includes a 108-meter main span with three sections, and is 9 meters wide. It is a much-needed solution to the landslide that had left the area in disarray.
The bridge is now being tested with heavy trucks to ensure its structural integrity. Once fully operational, it will not only improve traffic conditions but also support the local economy, especially for businesses that rely on the smooth movement of goods. For residents of Da Lat, this is more than just a new bridge — it's a symbol of resilience and progress in the face of natural challenges.
