Cam Ly-Phuoc Thanh Road Project Faces Delays Over Land Disputes
Major Infrastructure Project Hits Roadblock
The ambitious Cam Ly - Phuoc Thanh road project connecting Đà Lạt's urban center to rural communities is facing significant delays, with only 1.89% of the allocated budget disbursed despite being well into its construction timeline.
According to Thanh Niên newspaper, the 8.9-kilometer roadway was designed to improve connectivity between Cam Ly Ward in Đà Lạt and Phuoc Thanh area, with a total investment of 400 billion VND planned for completion between 2021-2026. The project follows Class III mountain road standards, featuring a 9-meter road foundation with a 6-meter driving surface and 1.5-meter shoulders on each side.
Land Acquisition Proves Challenging
The primary obstacle facing the project stems from complex land clearance issues. Of the 133 households affected by the road construction, requiring over 4.1 hectares of land acquisition, 14 households remain unresolved, creating a bottleneck that threatens the entire timeline.
As reported by the Lam Dong Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 1, which oversees the project, only about 1 billion VND has been disbursed from the 55.3 billion VND allocated for 2026. This represents a concerning pace that puts the project's completion target at risk.
Impact on Local Communities
For residents of Cam Ly Ward and the surrounding areas, this road represents more than just infrastructure—it's a vital connection that would improve access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities in Đà Lạt's city center. The delay particularly affects families in the more remote areas who currently face longer, more difficult commutes.
Local authorities are working to resolve the remaining land disputes, understanding that successful completion of this project will significantly improve transportation links for one of Đà Lạt's growing residential areas. The road is expected to reduce travel time and provide safer passage through the mountainous terrain that characterizes much of the region around Vietnam's beloved hill station.
