Da Lat's Secret Wine Valley: Highland Vineyards You Never Knew Existed

Hidden in the rolling hills beyond Ta Nung, something extraordinary is happening that most visitors to Da Lat never discover. Tucked away from the tourist trails, a quiet revolution is transforming terraced hillsides into Vietnam's most promising wine region.

Last week, I followed a winding dirt road to Vang Dalat Estate, where French viticulturist Michel Dubois tends to 15 hectares of Syrah and Chardonnay vines. "People think wine can't grow in tropical Vietnam," he tells me, plucking a cluster of grapes. "But Da Lat's elevation and cool nights create perfect conditions."

The Highland Wine Trail now connects six boutique vineyards, each experimenting with different varietals. At K'Ho Valley Wines, indigenous K'Ho farmers are learning viticulture alongside their traditional coffee cultivation. Their first vintage sold out in three days.
